Foods and drinks for the summer

As we all know, summer is just around the corner. During that time, our appetite is reduced due to the heat. We often want to eat and drink something light, and that will keep us cool during a hot day. To give you some inspiration for refreshing foods and drinks, we’ve made a list for you to take a look at.

FOODS:

Salads: There are many types, not just one! For example, chicken, vegetables, pasta, fruit, seafood, etc. Eating salad is a great way to keep you cool during these upcoming hot days.

Watermelon: A seasonal summer fruit. It helps in fulfilling your body’s water requirement and gives you a wonderful cooling effect.

Gazpacho (tomato soup): This is a healthy dish that can be eaten either warm or cold.

Seafood: It’s hard to deny that summer is one of the best seasons for enjoying seafood!

Fajitas: A versatile Tex-Mex cuisine. You can add meat, vegetables, salads, chicken, etc. Anything goes with it!

Cold soup: For example, salmorejo soup (a dish from southern Spain) is made of tomato, bread, extra virgin olive oil, and garlic. There are many types of soups that you can eat in cold. 

Poke bowl: One of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine. Served with diced raw fish served either as an appetizer or a main course.

Tortilla de patatas: A Spanish cuisine. Tortilla is an omelet made with eggs and potatoes, optionally including onion. It is equally tasty eating it warm as cold.

DRINKS:

Cocktails: Just looking at their mixture of magical aesthetic colors makes you already feel cool from the inside. Did you know that the classic margarita is the most popular summer drink? 

Mojitos: These beverages are popular quenchers for the summer. 

Lemonades: For decades, lemonades have been a classic favorite for everyone. Just thinking about the taste makes you want to drink one now!

Ice tea: This goes out to the tea lovers! Though ice tea is usually served in a glass with ice, it can refer to any tea that has been chilled or cooled.

Smoothie: A healthy drink with mixed fruits and yogurts that will keep you cool and satisfied during the summer. 

Milkshake: This might not be counted exactly as a light drink, but just like the smoothies, milkshakes will also keep you refreshed afterward.

Sangria: An alcoholic beverage originating in Spain and Portugal. It is a typical summer drink among the Spanish people. The drink consists of red wine mixed with lemonade, fruit, and spices.

Tinto de verano (“summer red wine”): Another beverage from Spain. Tinto de verano is very similar to sangria. The difference is that this drink includes red wine and a bit of soda, usually lemonade. Also, the ice is normally included.

 

So here you have a list of food and drink to consume during these hot days. However, during the hot days of summer, it is very important to stay hydrated. So make sure to drink plenty of water.
